Established 1993

Cover Ups Design began as a custom drapery specialist in 1993, first serving interior designers in the Mat-Su Valley. Within 10 years, owner Teresa Roy began serving clients directly and expanded her repertoire to all window coverings, including blinds, shades, and shutters. Teresa and her dedicated team of professionals quickly built a reputation for providing quality products with unparalleled customer care. That reputation helped Cover Ups Design secure an exclusive window fashions kiosk in a major warehouse membership-only club, as well as installation services for a major home improvement chain. With that, Teresa and her team began serving the entire state of Alaska. No location is too remote; they often travel by boat, small plane & even snowmachine to reach customers. Today, Teresa and her team remain dedicated to providing homeowners with the expertise and experience to solve any window covering challenge.

Teresa Roy is the founder and owner of Cover Ups Design. Her mom taught her to sew at a very young age and, when the fabric store she managed closed their doors in 1993, Teresa saw an opportunity to put her sewing skills to work, launch CoverUps (and be home to raise her children). She initially specialized in sewing custom drapes for interior designers, using their specifications to create draperies that would provide the finishing touch to the living spaces they designed. A good window covering specialist is, at heart, a good problem solver. Working with interior designers honed her skills and developed an aptitude to look at a window and know exactly what treatment would work. With that knowledge and experience, Teresa expanded the product line beyond custom drapes, taking advantage of innovative designs and materials, and eventually growing to include her own designers and installers. While the business continues to grow, one thing remains the same: Her dedication to you, her clients.

Pam Brownsberger (2).jpg

Pamela Brownsberger was born and raised in Anchorage, and can’t imagine calling any other place home! She is a mother of six, and resides with two cats and an Irish Wolfadoodle. She understands busy schedules and chaotic days, and is excited about her work with CoverUps because it provides her an outlet to be creative and meet wonderful people while being able to work around a hectic family schedule. Pam enjoys interior design, decluttering, working on large projects, and is interested in learning carpentry. She looks forward to working with you!

Courtney Juneau Consultant.jpg

Windows are our view of the world. Courtney Nelson grew up in Los Angeles with designer parents. She's seen a lot of good design and knows first-hand how much it can feed a person’s soul. From her earliest days, Courtney sought to improve people’s lives -- she started a house-cleaning business at 10-years-old to help create Feng Shui for her friends. Starting the day with beautiful window coverings allows the owners to feel a sense of calm control, of order, and the power to allow light to illuminate their homes, or the power to block it out. She enjoys helping people achieve their window goals by giving them options to get the perfect amount of privacy, light blockage, and insulation. Her favorite part is making windows look beautiful as well as functional. Many of her clients share that their new blinds are life changing on many levels! Home is where your story begins. Why not begin with clarity, light and beauty?
